The purpose of this report is to examine the impact of training on employee retention secretaries in an organisation. Training is beneficial to the organization performance and specifically it isa core organizational strategy influencing the employee retention and human capital growth. The study based on three main objectives to find the effects of commitment on the retention of secretaries at YMCA comprehensive institute, To find out the effect of new product development on retention of secretaries at YMCA comprehensive institute and lastly examine how employee satisfaction contributes to retention of secretaries at YMCA comprehensive institute. Both primary and secondary data were used to obtain information from respondent using questionnaires. The data was analyzed descriptively and presented pictorially by using frequent tables, from the data analyzed, it was established that respondents were aware of the various aspects of training and development, there was no strategic framework in place as the basis for an operational plan for the training and development strategy even though all respondents indicated that training and development was part of the strategic business plan process of YMCA. It was recommended that Training and development should be seen not only as the thread that ties together all human resource practices, but also as the instrument for establishing and signaling when and how work practices should change.
